Health Care

I believe that individuals - not the government - should have control over acquiring health care for themselves and their families, thus I am opposed to the health care bill that Henry Waxman and Congress forced on the American people. It will raise taxes, increase government spending and lower the quality of care. I support the elimination of the existing employee based system in favor of a private market system with medical insurance that remains with people regardless of their employment situation. This will drive down costs and make it easier to purchase affordable insurance.

Economy

I am a free enterprise advocate who believes that the government should not take sides in determining economic winners and losers. The government's role is to be a referee that establishes a fair opportunity for all Americans to live out their version of the American dream. Lowering taxes can encourage economic growth while raising taxes stifles growth, weakens the economy and puts more people out of work. Our economy works best when individuals have more of their income to spend, and businesses have money to invest and add jobs.

Why I'm Running

America is a great country but we also have many great challenges that we need to solve. The most important of our challenges is getting the U.S. economy moving again. In order for this to happen, we must vote for regular people - not career politicians who have spent their entire career contributing to an ineffective bureaucracy. People are hurting as they struggle to make ends meet, and are worried about their future, as well as the future of their children and grandchildren. I want to ensure that we have an America that gives the power to the people and not to the government - a country where there is equal opportunity for everyone to provide for their families and pursue their dreams.

Why I'm a Libertarian

The current system is broken. Republicans and Democrats have had ample opportunity to improve citizens lives, but instead have been more concerned with supporting a corrupt system that protects their own political interests. The time has arrived for a fresh voice. I believe the Libertarian philosophy of limited government involvement is the best way of giving the power back to the people. The party's platform articulates what will guide my decisions in Congress:

We defend each person's right to engage in any activity that is peaceful and honest, and welcome the diversity that freedom brings. The world we seek to build is one where individuals are free to follow their own dreams in their own ways, without interference from government or any authoritarian power.
